Window Size

Hi. I have several shortcuts to web pages on my desktop. When
opening web pages from within IE 7 the window size is basically maximized
like I set it. But when opening a page from the desktop the window is very
small (a quarter of the screen). I though by sizing the window and holding
down the ctrl while closing
xp will remember the window size, but it doesn't.
Any way around this??

Thanks,
James

Hi James,
Righ click the IE Icon on your Desktop and select properties.
On the properties under ShortCut see these settings:

Target:
["C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" ]
Run:
[ Normal Window ][v]
You can select Maximized if normal didn't work for you.
HTH.
Let us know.

No good. The one shortcut has property for the window mode for
the run. I have Windows Update on the desktop and even though I
set the Run to Maximized it opens in a small window.

Do you have any third-party that can prevent IE open in Maximized Window?.
Try to open the IE from here and see if it will open Max:
Start >> All programs >> Internet Explorer.
If id does then Delete the shortcut and create a new one from All programs
for IE.
HTH.

I have no other IE windows open. I double click the shortcut on the desktop,
maximize it and then close iot without opening any other IE window.
Doesn't happen

Try to Do the maximizing Bit again (but by Putting/placing the Pointer
over the Windows edge until get to double arrow <---> and Drag Out, do that
in all Directions Up, Down, Right, Left then try to open a link on that page
or type another URL and surf as Normal and close the IE.
Reboot your machine and see if the IE shortcut will open in Maximized window
as desired.

No good.
If it means anything only the shortcuts (2) I have to web
pages do this. I have several other shortcuts to programs
but they open where I leave them.

Delete the shortcuts & replace them with new ones. Understand, though, that
some web-pages are hard-coded to open in a un-maximized window.

Try IE New Window Maximizer.

Opens sized at one quarter of the screen?
I just reinstalled xp and this wasn't occurring before.
I've had Product Solution Centers web site on my
desktop before but never had this problem.
Also have this problem with Windows Update shortcut.
