New windows opening small, suggested fixes not working

I'm having a problem that would seem to have a simple fix, but this one has
me stumped.
For about the past week whenever I open a new window it opens very small,
requiring me to maximize to get it to its full size. Normally that would be a
minor inconvenience, but in a certain program my kids like to use the
maximize window box in the top right corner doesn't appear and the page
useless/unplayable at the small size. I have been able to maximze that page
using the F11 key, but for some reason when that page later is closed the
taskbar vanishes as well. No good.

Anyhow, I've read the forum several times and the fix always suggested -
i.e. opening a new window, closing all other windows, maximizing the new one
by dragging the corners then closing it so IE "remembers" my preferred size -
has failed every time.

I've also tried the IE Maximizer fix, but that hasn't worked either.

Any other thoughts/suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Given the steps you've already taken to resolve this, it sounds like the
window is hard-coded to open in that size.

I suspect that you are the victim of some virus or malware that
has modified certain registry permissions. The simplest cure
would be to restore the machine to a point a few days before
the problem became apparent, using System Restore. Click
Start / Help and look for help on System Restore if unsure how
to do this.

Thanks, I'll try that.

If you mean that particular program is hard-coded to open that size, that's
not the case. Until recently it had been opening full size, like any other
new window I opened.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried your suggestion and it appears to have solved the issue. Thanks a ton
for the help.

The game possibly uses a jscript command to limit the window size, if
it's an IE window. Try pressing Alt/Enter and see if that helps.

Press Ctrl/Esc or the Windows key to bring back the taskbar. If you
meant the toolbar within IE disappears, press F11 again; it's a toggle
between full-screen and the original size.
