window mail restarts

i am having big and frustrating problem with Window Mail lately. Whenever i
click on an incoming new/old attachment, Window Mail will prompt me to
restart the program....
Really need help urgently.
 
I am having a similar problem but I can open one attachment. However, when I
try to open a second attachment in the same or another email, Mail shuts down
and restarts. have you fixed your issue, maybe it is the same thing. I
can't figure it out.

You have an entirely different problem. Please start a new thread with your
problem instead of stealing someone else's.

Do you know what kind of attachments these are?

I have the same problem as skazem (closing and restarting) when opening a
second attachment. Occurs for .pps and .eml
 
That's right, i am have the same problem. Able to open 1 attachment, but not
the 2nd attachment.
 
I have tried downloading Window Live Mail and problems still cannot be
solved. When i click on attachment no. 1, it opens. But restarts the moment
i click on attachment no. 2.
Felt like uninstalling Windows Mail (Vista)
 
By "tried downloading Windows Live Mail" do you mean you actually
installed it and it is working correctly except for the attachment problem?

Windows Mail cannot be uninstalled.

Which antivirus are you running?

I am currently running the Norton Antivirus 2008. Is there any conflict with
Windows Mail (Vista)?
 
As far as we know, all Norton antivirus products will cause conflicts
with Windows Mail over time.
At the very least, email scanning in the antivirus must be disabled.
 
if that the case, then do you think i should completely remove and delete
Norton Antivirus?
Or is there any alternative to stop Norton from activating when start up?
 
Another option for those using Norton Antivirus 2008 (and earlier)
is to request the free upgrade to Norton Antivirus 2009.
If interested, contact Symantec support via online chat.

Note: The message store must be allowed to compact periodically.
 
Indeed. You will seldom find a third party support person
honest enough to admit that his employer's software is
causing the problem, even when you can prove that uninstalling
that software cures the problem.
