Window Can Not Open Drive For Direct Access

When I try to do a scan disk, select the option to scan at next boot, when
scan disk starts it says Windows Can Not Open Drive for direct access. The
scndisk is not performed and scan disk exits. Can someone point me in the
direction to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

Hi Cracker Jacks,

If you have ZoneAlarm Pro version 5 installed, that seems to be causing this
problem for a heck of a lot of people. Uninstall version 5, then try running
checkdisk again.

If uninstalling ZoneAlarm does indeed solve that problem, you might want to
submit a Technical Support Form to them, as mentioned in item E on their FAQ

I un-installed ZA Pro and scan disk worked fine. I will email them about the
issue in case no one else has.

If ZAP is uninstalled, make sure the WinXP firewall is turned on.

I found the "possible solution" (i.e., uninstall ZA 5.0) to that scandisk
problem at these newsgroups, not at ZA's site, so chances are they may not
be aware of it........your emailing them may prove to be a great help to
many people
