window 2k wont start up

Although I have a dual boot 2k/xp, I usually boot up in 2k. All my updates
the OS and anti virus are current/up to date, Although the 2k was showing a
bit of slow reponse time in terms of getting to the web page, but no major
problem.

Just now, out of the blue, when I boot up the 2k, it wont not go to
desktop. When I on the pc, the 1k logo will appear and there is the start up
showing the indicators moving. But it will stop half way and freeze there,
Nothing will happenfurther after that,

The first instance when this happen, I shut down the pc and on again and
was able to goes to desktop, But not the secondtime ariynd. How canI getrit
to desktop as I seldem use other operating system I realy need help as all my
things, installation etc are undern this drive,

I just try to boot up again and it manage to go to desktop. I then shut
down the pc in the normal way. And try to boot up again, Alas, back to square
one, it does not boot up it seems the problem may occur on/off. What can I do
next and hope someone can render ome assistance., thanks
