If looking to free up some drive space, is it "safe" to delete the contents
of the "Installer" folder found in the windows (winnt) directory? (What is
it's purpose?)

WINDOWS Installer folder

C:\WINDOWS\Installer
or
%windir%\Installer

To avoid all kinds of errors with applications such as MS Office, leave the
C:\WINDOWS\Installer folder alone.

FWIW, I deleted some MS Office related items and I now *CANNOT* get MS
Office Updates.
