WinDefender icon in sys tray

Every once and awhile at startup the Win Defender icon shows up in the
sys tray with an exclamation point, presumably wanting a full scan
(quick won't do). Since I use WD as an additional real-time check, not
as a mainline scanner, I'd like to get rid of that icon, thus a few
questions:
- Is clicking on "Exit" all it takes, or does that affect the
program's operation itself?
- What is WD's process name (in Process Explorer)?
- Can this behavior be adjusted at startup? Looking at Autoruns, there
are three processes currently loading: Windows Defender User Interface,
ShellExecute hook, WinDefend (I unchecked scheduled scan)

Thanks,
Gene

I thought the exclamation point showed up in the sys tray (notification
area) for a scan, but I ran one and it's still there. Perhaps the
problem is that the last definitions update was April 23 (1.57.181.0)?
The thing is that when I check for updates, it always shows no new ones
available. Normally, I get auto notification of updates, but nothing
on the one out recently. Any ideas?

Hello Gene,

Am I correct in thinking that you are running CCleaner oÑ another registry
cleaner?

Hi Gene,

Be sure. In the Utilities category, uncheck WindowsDefender.
