Win98 Docs to WinXP

Hi,

I have backed up some files from a PC using HP CD-RW
Drive with Windows 98. I want to transfer the files to a
new PC with Windows XP.
It does not recognise the device and notifies me it is
not connected.
How can I transfer these files? They are normal Word
format.

have you installed HP's DLA or Record Now on your computer with XP? If not
it can't read the CD you burned in 98.

Hi,

Are you connecting the drive in the new system? Or is it the burned CD that
is not being recognized?

If the former, is the drive seen in Device Manager? My Computer? How about
in the system BIOS?

What software did you use to make the CD? If it came with the HP drive
it will probably have been DLA, and you need to get an XP version of
that and install it on the XP machine. It is available free at
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/information_storage/software/dla_ver31_enu.exe
