Hello all,

Our company has a client that uses a Win2K Terminal Server
that allows us access to their files. My two users who
access our clients server are both on Win98SE. They have
always been able to access the clients server up until
about two months ago. I cannot access the clients TS
server from ANY Win98SE pc, only Win2K Pro or XP Pro pcs.

Are there any caveats with Win2K TS and Win98 now that
would prevent the connections?

Thanks for any help!!!

The difference is that you need to install a TS CAL for these clients
on the TS Licensing server. W2K Pro and XP Pro clients get a free TS
CAL from the Licensing Server.
The W98 clients have been able to connect for 90 days on the
temporary license that every client receives on the first connection,
but obviously that temporary license has now expired.
You'll need to buy and install a TS CAL for every client, or use a
W2K Pro or XP Pro client.

Thanks.

I was under the assumption that our client had purchased
the CAL's; I was wrong. Shortly after I posted I checked
there server and saw the expired temp lic's. Still odd
that none of my 98 pc's will connect, whether they've been
to the clients server or not.

Is there a limited number of temp CAL's a TS server will
issue? Did also notice that they had 10 CAL's on hand
which all were utilized.

Thanks for the reply(s).

No, there's no limit on the number of temporary TS CALs.
Can't answer your other questions, since it's unclear to me if you
mean CAL or TS CAL when you mention CALs.
Note that you will need both a CAL and a TS CAL for all clients.
Only W2K Pro and XP Pro will get a free TS CAL. *All* clients need
a purchased CAL.
