Hello:

Trying to network win95(Bill2) machine to win2k(NC1) on
our lan.

Both machines are visible in network neighborhood.

Connection from NC1 to Bill2 works fine.

When we try to connect Bill2 to NC1, we receive a pop up
window advising a password is required. Pop up has the
following:

Resoure: \\NC1\lPC$
Password:

Bill2 is a registered power user on NC1.
When we enter Bill2 password, response is
"Password incorrect. Try again."

Password has been verified on NC1.
Input will not accept 'blank' password.

Where does the path \\NC1\1PC$ originate?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Yes, you need to "logon" to the Win95 box with a set of
credentials that have access on the Win2k box. If you do
this you will be able to access the share no problem.
What the Win2k box is currently doing is taking your logon
name as the username and asking for its password to create
an access token for use to access the share access control
list. If you logon to the box with a Win2k local machine
account that has access to the share, you should have no
problem.
