mstask.exe is one of those programs that 'listens' by
churning out UDP packets, looking for a TCP connection.
That maybe fine on a network but on the internet, it is
asking for trouble. Solution: block incoming UDP and
TCP fot mstask.exe in your firewall. The same can be
said for svchost (block TCP in) and system (block
UDP & TCP in).

thanks for your reply.

i noticed i started to get this after installing
some MSFT security fixes. MStask was modified by the fix,
i can tell by the modification date . problems from the even log happen
right after the fixes were put on/

i dont have a firewall,
it seems msft must have made a bad change to mstask ,

any other help out there ??

dont see your point .

Task Scheduler isnt listed as a problem service.

this error is more common.
Whats the parameter in error ??
seems mstask.exe was changed by a msft fix
and now this error pops up.

Reload IE6, the task scheduler is bundled with it (from Pegasus).
