When you view the logged events in Event Viewer in the upper right corner,
third button down is a copy to clipboard, then you can paste in the body of
a reply message.

Please do so for all system events so we can see all of the event detail.

stating error 1721 and Not enough resources are available

If you have the Windows 2000 resource kit you might try from a command
prompt;

sc query "Task Scheduler"

to see what win32 exit code is generated.

Make sure that the Task Scheduler service is set to start with the system
account. You might try deleting any existing scheduled tasks. There may be
corruption associated with one or more tasks. Also make sure any dependant
services started. RPC

Thanks to Torgeir for those links though I didn't find sc.exe in the free
tools at the second link. I can't connect to ftp://ftp.microsoft.com right
now but hopefully you can at some point.

Hi

Yes, sorry, it is only available at the FTP site (I was able to
connect just now).

Thanks for your help.

The sc.exe came up with
[SC] EnumQueryServicesStatus:OpenService FAILED 1060:

the named service is not an installed service.

So now I only need to know how to install this service

I put the old file mstask.exe(version 4.71.2195.6704)
back in the system32
and renamed the mstask.exe(version 4.71.2195.6920) to old
and now it is working !

Pascal

kbBug kbfix kbQFE kbWin2000preSP5fix KB871245
changes the mstask file to a higher version
