Win2k server unable to join domain

I have a Win2k member server that is unable to join the domain

We are running Win2k DC in mixed mode. I have found and Event ID 5722 with
the following error:

The session setup from the computer GA1W2K10 failed to authenticate. The
name of the account referenced in the security database is GA1W2K10$. The
following error occurred:
Access is denied.

Has anyone encountered/ has a fix for this?

We have working on this for a day and it is preplexing?

Try adding it to a workgroup, then re-adding it to the
domain, then if successful reboot. The first part of
your error I have seen many times and this process fixes
it, however, I question the access denied message.
