Windows XP Win2K Server connecting to Netware 5.1

Desperate for help.
I have a Windows 2000 (SP4) Server that I need to connect to a Netware 5.1 (NDS) server. I'm running manually configured IP addresses on both.
I have installed the Novell client 4.91 SP2 on my WIndows 2000 box, but cannot ping to the Netware server. The Netware server can only ping it's own IP addresses.
I have recabled and have insured that the Intel Pro card in the Netware machine is functioning.
TCP is the preferred protocol on the Client.
Any help would be appreciated.
