Win2k - Mouse pointer temporarily disappears - Omnibook 6000

I've installed Win2k on a Omnibook 6000. With no apps open, I can move
the mouse pointer in a circle motion. Every 3-4 seconds the mouse
pointer will freeze in place then jump ahead or catch up to where it
should be. This freezing is continious. It actually first shows up
during the setup process when the mouse gets activated.

I doesn't matter if I use the touchpad, the button or an exterior
mouse plugged in the back.

I've installed the latest mouse driver from HP and I'm up to date on
the BIOS. I've also tried installing XP and it exhibits the same
problem. I'm supicious that it is not actually mouse related, but
some process or other problem that is affecting the pointer, but I'm
clueless at the moment.

Any help is appreciated.

Don - I had the exact same problem, and spent 2 days trying to figure
it out. I just figured it out tonight. It was the battery. Strange
as it may sound, there is no doubt about it. Take the battery out and
go on AC power and the problem will go away
