Win2K Applications not responcing to some keystrokes

Rescently my win2K machine (Pro, SP4) has stopped
responding to some keystorkes.

Example.
In my browser Netcaptor (But not in IE) the alt key no
longer highlights the menus, ect ALT+<letter> will bring
open the correct menu. Similarly the space bar now no
longer functions to select items. The same is true in
yahoo messenger. In windws Explorer the alt key will
highlight the menus but the space bar still will not
select an item. Its very strange behaviour. Any ideas for
fixes?

Oh, i use a MS Internet keyboard with Microsoft Intelli
Type Pro.

This behaviour has only rescently started (cant remember
when exactly) and i cant remember what, if anything, has
been installed lately.
 
This is a newsgroup for XP, but good luck getting a response just the same.
