Win2000Pro Setup fails on error 4096

Can anybody help, please? I am trying to repair a 2000Pro
installation from the set of 4 floppies but, when I run
setup it crashes with the message "File \ntkrnlmp.exe could
not be loaded. The error code is 4096." Searching for info
on this error code at microsoft.com produces no results
that are relevant.
Any help would be much appreciated.
