Win2000 TS black hole question

Trying to VPN into our network, then launch a TS session gives us the
black screen. Doing some research, it looks like it might be a black
hole issue. I have an XP laptop. If I dial out to my ISP, VPN into
the network, then launch TS, it works fine. But if I'm on my DSL
connection, then I get the black screen and then disconnects (firewall
is turned off). Microsoft suggests changing the host MTU...but if I
can connect via dial up, why wouldn't DSL work? Can I just change my
dsl MTU instead? Obviously I'm not an expert on this so bear with me.

A little more information and confusion...I came across an article on
the knowledge base stating that the default MTU for VPN on 2000 is
1400. When I'm VPN'd into the network and do a ping server -f -l ,
the highest value I can go to is 1410....which is more then the MTU of
1400...so I'm confused on if it's really a black hole issue or
something else.
