installed on her computer but is having a problem. She gets an error message
that "svchost.exe" has committed errors and will be shut down by Windows.
After that many things don't work properly. The program is in
C:\WINNT\system32.
This is an old, old thing: Her machine is probably infected by a worm,
because she neglected to do her security updates, maintain her firewall,
update her virus scanner, or all three. Here are some links:

Hello Pegasus:
I am havng sever problems on W2K with the svchost error.
I have ran AVG and Symantec (40+ min each) with no verii
found. I have SP4 installed. Before when I had an infection
from "msblast" I physically removed, and edited the
registry, and applied MS03-026 all successfully. Since
then, because of some bad memory and corrupted files, I
have had to reload W2K. I *cannot* apply MS03-026 0r
MS03-039 receiving an error message of wrong OS.
I would think these were included in SP4, so I understand
(I think) receiving this error. STILL
When connected to the Internet for 3-5 min the old svchost
error pops up and I lose all functionallity to complete my
work. And AVG Is running as I type this.
Any Help? At this point I have researched and read and
applied till I am confused as to why this is still hallening.
TIA Nolan Side Bar: YES I have a legal copy.
