Hi,

I have Win2000 Professional OS on my computer. During a routine virus
scan, I found an executable file, svchost.exe, was infected with a virus.
Without knowing what virus infected it, I made the blunder of deleting
this executable and cleaning up the Recycle Bin afterwards.

I now realize that this is itself a legitimate file, but I don't know
how to recover it. I inserted the Win2000 professional CD and did a search
in it, but no such name was found, which led me to blieve this file was
compiled and generated during the intitial OS installation.

How can I get a new copy of the svchost.exe file ? (The subdirectory
it's located in is c:\WINNT\system32\wins\SVCHOST.EXE

THanks for the help.

Look for \i386\svchost*.* on your Win2000 CD.
