svchost.exe

I just upgraded sp2 to sp4. I closed all programs including the
virus(I thought) and firewall. During the download a virus warning
came up(surprising to me) saying virus nachi in the file DLLHOST.EXE in
the Sytem32/wins folder. I deleted it as it wouldn't go in the AVG
vault. My cpu was 100% utilized all the time from a file called
svchost.exe as shown in the task manager. There was a file SVCHOST in
the system32/wins folder also and it was a different size than the 2
other files of the same name svchost.exe in other system folders so I
deleted it but it made no difference. There are 2 of these processes
(svchost.exe running) one active and the other not. I changed the
priority of the svchost.exe file running in task manager so I can now
use the computer although as I type this the modem (dial up) looks busy)

Does anyone have a suggestion

You may have been infected while you downloaded the sp4. You should
not have stopped the virus software and the firewall. One option would
have been to download the full package rather than use the net
install.

Allen,

You should go to www.symantec.com and find a link that let
symantec scan your HD for worms&virus. It will tell the
name(s) if there is.

Second idea is you should install Ad-aware to kill the
parasites while you downloading SP4.
