Win2000 running very slow!!!!

Hello,

I have Win 2000 with SP 4.
My problem is that sometimes I find the system very slow, and programs are
taking alot of time to run, even minimizing and maximizing takes a lot of
time, how can I solve this? is it a kind of
virus?
I ran Norton system works and system suite fix utilities but the problem is
still there.
Also I ran Norton antivirus 2004 with last updated using dos prompt and
bootable cd .


My pc is P||| 866 with 640 RAM and western digital disk.

Any help would be highly appreciated
 
It is too hard to diagnose without some details. Run performance monitor
(perfmon) and check things as physical disk activity, page faults, memory
allocated, and network bandwidth. Also make sure you do your basic
utilities such as defrag and checking for spyware. Post your results and we
will see what we can figure out.
