Win2000 Pro Networking Issues (and driver issues)

Hey there,

a computer of a friend is experiencing some weird issues. He said he
removed some spam filter.

Anyways DHCP service immediately assigns an APIPA (169.254.x.y) address
(other computers work fine on the LAN), when assigning fixed IP I can
ping computers, but not resolve DNS (not through ping/IE nor nslookup,
nslookup will immediately report there's no response from the server).
Also can't connect on IP with IE.

Tried removing TCP/IP, but then I can't reinstall it. There's an error
stating there are no drivers at the given location (can't choose a
location). Got TCP/IP back on the card by installing the extra TCP/IP
service (time/finger etc). If I remove those additional services TCP/IP
goes with it.

The machine also has issues finding simple drivers, like USB mouse, or
DVD drive.

Reinstalling SP4 didn't help.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Try removing the drivers then restart. Try installing the mobo chipset
drivers.
