Win2000 Install Incomplete

D

Dave

I started to install Win2000 Server until I discovered
that my current applications would be deleted and have to
be reinstalled (don't want to do that). I did not
actually begin installing, just loaded the install
programs, and when prompted to continue, I opted out, and
quit install process.

My problem is now when I boot up, before Windows Me loads,
an option to choose to continue to install Win2000 or load
current OS comes up. How do I get rid of this? I figure
part of the install files for Win2000 still exist, but I
am not sure were.

You can boot with your WinME startup disk and issue the command
sys C:
this will rewrite the boot sector, then you can delete these files boot.ini,
ntldr, ntdetect.com, bootsect.dos, pagefile.sys and possibly ntbootdd.sys
from the root of the System partition C:\
