win xp with hp laserjet 5 and internet printing

hello everyone,

i have a network of 15 computers. 6 of them are xp pro
boxes, 5 of them are xp home boxes, 2 of them are w98
boxes (will be replaced)and 2 of them are win2k boxes.

3 of the xp pro boxes are constantly printing to a lexmark
laserjet 5 printer. this printer is connected to one of
those 3 xp pro boxes via parallel port and shared amongst
12 of the computers.

the 3 win xp pro boxes can connect to the printer fine,
and applications print fine. however when they print from
hotmail, or other internet based email, it prints either
blank pages or just the internet advertisements. also,
when these boxes print, there is a lag time in which the
print box gets "stuck" on the screen before the document
prints.

how can i get these machines to print "correctly"? is
there anything i can reset or drivers that i can download,
or if anyone knows of any work around for it?

i do plan to get a print server eventually. also, i had
the printer connected to a win98 box and only win98 boxes
were printing to this printer, and there was no problem.
this problem only started to appear after i hooked up the
laserjet 5 to the xp pro box.

any help is much appreciated.
thanks!

Is there a question? All I see is Bump. Hummmmmmmmmmm! Is this some
secret code language?

yes there is. if you read the first string you'd see the
problem which was never answered. and, i need an answer.
would you or someone else be so kind as to resopond? the
question has been there for almost a week now.

Sorry I don't see any first string or any question! I see the word "bump"
and all I see is a statement in the subject line about a printer and
internet printing!
So I'll just assume what the question is from the subject line, read this
article from Cari's web site and see if this has anything to do with your
problem.

strange, but thanks for responding anyway. i've found that
article, and have employed that fix, however i don't think
that's my issue. the following is from my first string:

Sorry I don't know the answer to that problem. Maybe someone might come up
with one?

You could be running into the simultaneous connection limitation.....

10 for Windows 2000
10 for XP Pro
10 for XP Home

With a network of over 10 PCs, you should be looking at one of the PCs
running as a print server and probably using Windows Small Business Server
O/S.
