Win XP upgrade not seeing my HD

I have a Compac DeskPro running on ME v4.90.3000, P3 930, 256MB Ram
12gig HD. About 2 years ago I added a second 80gig internal drive and
used a SIlicon Image SiI 0680 Ultra-133 Medely ATA Raid Controller in
order for Win Me to recognize it. My Bios was not supported for
anything beyond Win98.
XP Upgrade report listed my Palm OS and the Controller as not being
supported and sure enough, XP setup cannot find the second HD. I
searched SI's web site for newer drivers and nothing has worked. When
I am prompted to load a new driver from the floppy disk, XP setup says
the file is corrupt. I tried on 3 seperate times to d/l the file only
to have XP setup tell me the file was corrupt.
My suspicion is that I will need to purchase a newer controller. I am
totally clueless on these new controllers and which would be my best
option to get. Can anyone clue me in to what I might/should be looking
for in order to be able to get XP up and running?
Also, don't know if it matters but my BIOS is non-flashable.
Thanks for the help!

I would suggest that you need to be looking for another system to get this
XP up and running. It sounds like the hardware might be fine for ME or
perhaps Windows 2000, but too much of it is incompatible.

Have you ever tried attaching the larger IDE drive to the internal IDE
channel, not using the RAID controller card?

Sure have, its what I did originally, I had to use the RAID controller
because my bios didn't support a HD any larger than 10 gig. It would
install fine but it would only report the HD as being 10.something gig
out of 80.

Something is very strange here. There has never been a 10GB BIOS
barrier. There was 8GB, and then there was 32GB. And both were *long*
ago.

It's very likely that you misinterpreting what happened. Perhaps there
was an existing 10GB partition that you installed onto without
realizing it.
