HD swap problem

My machine runs XP Home and my visiting bf removed my HD and put his in
instead. It ran fine, but when time came to return mine, I get the blue
screen of death.
The error messages range from paging file to pointing to the NIC. So I
disable the NIC and it runs fine. The second I reinstall the NIC, bluescreen.
I've tried uninstalling both via hardware devices and manually, as well as
reinstalling the controller and driver. I got a fresh driver from the
manufacturer's website (it is an Airlink 802) but nothing.
When installing the driver, i get some msg about XP not verifying the device.
Help!!!
Thanks :)

After the msg about 'unverified' did you go ahead with the installation?
('unverified' simply means the driver has not been submitted to MS for
testing, and as such is not an unusual msg)

PS using a hd, win drive, from another sys usually results in haveing to do
a repair instalation of win in order to install the correct drivers, eg
motherboard. In order for a different hd to boot the two systems would need
to be identical, eg same motherboards, at least.
