Win XP SP2 install problem

Everything is fine through the backup of file and the registry, and
the creation of a restore point. As soon as it reaches the point
where new files are to be copied out to the system (I believe this is
the next step), the installer quits and I get:

"Unable to read to or write from the database."

What database is it talking about...cab files? Any ideas to correct?
My system is at SP1 pre-install.

Thanks,
Jim

I've had the same thing with the directX 9 setup file, I just redownloaded
it, and it worked...
