Win XP Repair

I get to the screen that asks press "enter" for install or "R" for repair and
I click enter. I eventually get to a blue screen with a message at the
bottom saying "examining 76315 MB disk 0 at ID 0 on Bus 0 on atapi....." the
computer then stops. Ive waited up to a few hours and it goes nowhere. What
should I do?

press 'r' for the recovery console prompt (repair) and run the command

CHKDSK /R

If this fails to help, I think you should look at some BIOS setting for the
drive.
