System went into unmountable_boot_volume

followed the cd to boot in the recovery screen and after I select, R, the
scanning stops at, Examining 152587 MB Disk 0 at Id 1 on Bus 0 on iastor...

Any suggestions as to get pass this or is the hard drive finished?

Unplug any USB devices and try again. It might not make any difference but
I've had a problem when I've had a USB card reader connected.
It may also mean there is a fault with the hard drive. Can you download a
manufacturers hard drive test utility, these can be ran from either a boot
floppy or boot CD.

No USB are connected but when I did a check on the hard drive I was showing
an error. After talking with the oldest boy in Iowa he thought, with the
problems that I'm having point to motherboard/software/hard drive problems.
Not good. Computer is 4 plus years old so putting any money into it may not
be wise. thanks. mrs
