hi i recvied an oem copy of xp mce (from aria.co.uk) to upgrade my home pc
but the instaliation only installed profesional edition not mce. it has some
of the files for mce but not all (files like ehome folders etc) i have tried
re-installing 2 times but to no joy if you have any ideas could you please
email me asap please! ( email startrek.jackson at tiscali.co.uk

MCE is essentially Pro with other features added.
Is the CD a genuine Microsoft CD or possibly a copy?
Exactly what is written on the CD?
Is the Product Key genuine from Microsoft or possibly a fake?

Right click My Computer and click Properties.
What is under System?

yes it a full legal copy with holographic cd it has microsoft xp mce 2005 (2
discs) and a seperate disc with rollup 2 on it. i dont really want to post my
key to prove its legal for obvious reasons but i asure you it is. it is the
orginal cd's from www.aria.co.uk (doe a media center search and it shows u
what i brought.

under my computer it says windows xp proffesional edition but i definatly
have mce 2005 with a coupon for free windows vista premium upgrade
Media Center edition does report itself as being XP Professional in
some instances.

However Control Panel - System - General should report correctly.

Good luck

No.
OEM is intended for installation on a new computer and does not have the
capability to upgrade from another operating system.

its sorted now :-) must of been dodgy installs 4 times though it ended up

for advert) http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=16054 this is a
fully leagal mce oem u only have to buy a piece of key compnent like a £1.25
