I have finished building a new machine and loaded it with both Win XP Pro. I
have activated the O/S. When I shutdown or restart the comp, it gets to just
past the PCI devices listing and then displays "Boot from cd/dvd"...
Yes, in the BIOs I have told set the boot order cd, C then just from C.
However, if there is no system disc in the drive I get the dreaded "DISK BOOT
FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND HIT ENTER" error.
Heres the kicker, if i put in the support disk from the Motherboard, I get
this:

Boot from cd/dvd
1. FD 1.44mb System Type- (13)
gigabyte Bootcd Loader
Press any key to boot from CD........ Boot from Hard Disk

And then it loads into Windows and the system can be used with no problems.
If i use the acutal Windows XP Pro system disk, I get this:

Boot from cd/dvd
Press any key to boot from CD........

and then it starts with no problems. I dont want to have to have a dang disk
in the drive everytime I want to start the computer. HELP!!

Come on please people.... No one out there has any clue why this is
happening? I have searched all the threads I can, looked thru other sites and
found nothing on this. Someone has to have some idea whats going on and must
have an idea how to solve this?

Ok so if any of you out there are like me and got absolutely no freaking
answer to your problem, I will atleast let you know what i found out and how
I finally fixed this problem. Just a little background before losing this
useless site and deleting it from my favorites....

I am currently running an internet cafe in southern california. And for
those anal people YES, I have all legal software, on each computer, including
registered versions of Windows. I have gone through training for computer
repair and have been working at that for about 2 years now. I DO NOT KNOW
EVERYTHING THERE IS ABOUT COMPS, which is why i came to this place.. My Bad,
who knew..

Anyway, it always seems that the littlest problems take forever to figure
out. OK, ok... i put a tiny jumper onto the master pins of my harddrive. It
was only a single drive with no slave, therefore did not need a jumper. I
tried booting without the jumper on and it workd. You get used to dealing
with major issues and the little ones get forgotten. Dam wished someone had
had this probelem and posted so i didnt spend a weekend and a day trying to
"fix" this customers problematic new computer. Thanks for all the help
guys... geesh
