WinXPpro Boot Back Up

Hi, I recently downloaded an application (Paragon Drive Backup
Express) that would said it would create a CD/DVD that would allow me
to boot up my OS if I ever found that my Win XP pro hard disk boot
process became corrupted.
I assume this was to allow me to boot into my PC and at least allow me
to save files/applications/etc before reformatting and reloading XPpro
onto my hard disk.
I say assume because I cannot get it to work.
Are there any other such applications that will accomplish this
reqirement.

Thanks!

Acronis TI or Ghost to name but two
The dvd Image contains your data
You could use that dvd to restore data only to another PC, or simply restore
the image to your current PC
There are other native built in methods to recover a sys if the boot process
or winxp becomes corrupt
Other than virus, or you fiddling with your sys, the most likely scenario is
that your hd fails
I have never used Paragon

What happens when you try to boot with the CD/DVD? By the way, when you
have to boot with the emergency CD it may very well be too late to
attempt to save files...

Just to add more options to the other answers

Linux live distros like Knoppix and Ubuntu will let you boot your XP

I was trying to avoid complete disk image copies due the size of my
hard disk - I keep a backup of "My Documents", .pst file, and
applications. I appreciate that a reformat and image load may be
easier but I don't find that a xp reinstall to much of a problem - it
also helps to tidy up my hard disk and get rid of applications that I
no longer really need.
I was looking for an application that could mirror my XPpro boot and
(hopefully) overwrite it should it ever become corrupted.

When I boot from the DVD I get the XPpro startup screen (with the blue
loading segments) and then move to the blue "Welcome" screen and then
it just hangs!

Knoppix will boot my PC up, but I was looking for an application that
could mirror my XPpro boot and (hopefully) overwrite it should it ever
become corrupted.

Thanks again!

For drive imaging and bare metal restore this is my application of choice:

Image for Windows

Small and simple and it works without fussing about! Works on Servers
and Workstations, for bare metal restore it can handle RAID, SCSI, USB
drives from a DOS based CD that you create and it works like a charm!

If you want a full fledged, bloated backup application this isn't the
product. If you want a small imaging and backup application that is
simple to use and that works like a breeze IFW is for you.
