Win XP Pro Install

I have just purchased a Seagate Baracuda 120gb SATA hdd
to add to my system. When trying to install Win XP pro on
it everything goes fine until the first restart. Then
whilst the section installing devices is underway I get a
message on the scree. The message reads:

Software installation.

has not passed windows logo testing to verify its
compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing may
impair/destabilize the operation of your system either
immediatly or in the future.

This isnt a joke the system is so unstable if you
continue its virtually useless. Is there a way round
this??

Try running the hd as a slave at first, let windows up-
date install the drivers, then switch to master, you'll
need to set the jumpers on both hds each switch, you
did set the jumpers(8 or 6 pins usually)next to the
wire harness conecter to the hd,the plastic piece sets
the configuration. You also need to format the hd before
any use takes place.

Check the HDD manufacturer Web site for updated drivers. Use the new drivers
if there are any. If not call/write email to make and complain.

I would suggest you look at the Seagate web site & get the latest drivers
for the HD.

But I'm sure other suggestions will be forthcoming.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself but I haven't seen any new messages since
12:56 26/07/03. You may need updated drivers from your motherboard supplier
if your HD controller is built in or the controller manufacturer if it is a
PCI card. I am assuming you pressed F6 to install drivers during set-up.

best of luck

Neil
