I have WIN XP PRO and a HP LASERJET 5M connected to a small network. All PCs
print to this printer and all show the same problem.
When I print one page, the printer print it and print another page with the
message:

ERROR: undefined
OFFENDING COMMAND:

STACK:

....and then another blank page. 3 pages for 1!.

Somebody helpme...

I've run into this on a few other laserjet's (not the 5M unfortunately). I
fixed it by installing the base model printer. In other words try installing
it as just a laserjet 5 without the M. Or if there's other letters try those
as well.

That looks like it is probably a Postscript error. Are you using the PS
driver, or are you using the PCL driver? I find that for most HP printers,
usually the PCL driver is faster, has more options, and gives less problems
than the PS driver.
I have a 5MP that I use the PCL 6 driver for. Windows seems to keep detecting
the printer and installing another printer as the PS version, and I can't keep
it deleted - so I just ignore that one. I guess that one answer may be to
just pull the PS ROM out of the thing so that it just looks like a 5P.
I have heard rumors that some things like PDF files print "better" with a PS
printer, but I've never noticed it.

There are often newer/better drivers for download than the ones that come with
Windows. The ones that come with Windows are often fairly old because they
have to go through MS certification or whatever it's called, and some
manufacturers don't bother putting the newer ones through that.
