Win Xp Pro Fails to boot

Eddy

After unchecking msnmsgr to startup with OS (downloaded
MSN 6.0 and it kept autostarting with OS). System
contniually re-boots and never gets to Windows. The Bios
loads up all necessary hardware mouse, keyboard, drives,
etc. and right before it goes into the OS load, it gives
a very quick message to "see system Event log..." and
then reboots back to BIOS, it keeps doing this
indefintely and never actually loads Windows. I have
tried 2 Win XP CDs. Please advise.

Thank you,

Eddy,

the steps to solve this are:

Select the Last Known Good configuration during the boot
process. Press F8, then select from the menu.

If this does not resolve the problem, try to boot into safe
mode.

If this does not resolve the problem, try to boot from the
install CD into the recovery console and change the service
settings back to what they were.

If this does not resolve the problem, reinstall Windows XP as an
upgrade over the damaged installation. This should keep your
installed software and settings. After this, reinstall the
latest service pack as well (currently SP1, if I didn't miss
any).

If this does not resolve the problem, you have to either call in
an expert or reinstall from scratch.
