Win XP Pro Boot Failure

I'm having a problem booting from my WIN XP PRO CD at restart. When the CD
ROM starts reading the drive, after a few seconds of reading the CD the
message failure.... appears and WIN XP PRO starts up as normal.

I want to format my hard drive but the boot sequence is preventing me from
doing this.

I've set the CD ROM to boot in the BIOS as the main and secondary boot
format. I've also tried an alternative XP PRO CD to see if there was maybe a
fault with the CD but the same thing happened.

Does anyone have any ideas as how to solve this problem?

Have you checked the cdrom drive with other CD's to make sure it's
working Ok.

The CD ROM has been working fine, I've tried opening the XP CD in windows and
it opens fine.
