win xp pro BAD issues

I put in the Windows XP Pro disc and it started to
isntall windows. At around 55% the computer started
beeping I turned it off because i didnt know what the
hell was going on.
Then i turned it back on and it keeps beeping and it
gives me all the info about my computer. Then it sits
there and i cant do anything. it gave me the option to
enter POST or Setup.

the pc is brand new. just got it today and are having
this problem.
how do i get to DOS or something where i can format
this.. it seems to me that half windows is installed and
im lost...

If I'm understanding you, it was beeping right when you
turned it on and before trying to boot? If so, that's
probably the BIOS probably trying too tell you that you
have a hardware problem. See if your manufacturer has a
list of "beep codes". (Seriously, BIOS' tend to beep
like that because one of the things that can go wrong is
the monitor.)

The fact that the BIOS is giving you a choice to enter
setup also implies that it found something wrong.
(Usually there's an error message explaining what it
found.)
