Startup problems

I have recently had very bad startup probelms with my Windows XP
Professional. Whilst playing a game on the computer, it froze, so I tried to
exit the game using Ctrl+Alt+Delete. This did not work, so I pressed several
other buttons. One included Shift+Alt+Print Screen, which made a beep noise.
I then turned the computer off, but when I turned it back on, the screen went
black and the hard drive started beeping as it had done before. However,
whatever I treid to do, nothing happened apart from the beeping coming from
the hard drive. I think that I may have turned high contrast on but whatever
has happened, the screen stays black and the hard drive continues to beep.
How can I fix it?

Beeps are a means for your computer's BIOS to inform you that something is
wrong with your system. If you google on "beep codes" you should be able to
match what you're hearing to what the error code means and go from there to
resolve the problem.
