Win XP Home and LaserJetIIIp printer

My old HP LaserJet IIIp has done sterling service with my
old PC and never failed. It is operating correctly

I have replaced the PC with a new Dell Dimension with an
OEM version of Windows XP Home (ver 2002 & Service Pack
1). Using the HPLaserJet IIIp with MS Win XP Home and MS
Word 2000 (9.0.2720), single page documents are printed
correctly but multi-page documents have a blank page
inserted between each printed page. The same problem does
not occur when printing the same documents with a Lexmark
printer.

I suspect the driver provided for the HP LaserJet printer
is a "catch-all" driver for several printers.

I have contacted Dell who can not help and Hewlett
Packard say they no longer support the LaserJet IIIp - so
I'm in a jam!

Can you suggest a fix please?

A possible cause is that Word 2002 is setting a different non-printable area
or bottom margin. If you are positioning things on a page using empty
paragraphs or manually inserted page breaks, you may get this problem.

Does Print Preview show the blank pages?

In Word, click File, Page Setup, select the Margins tab and click OK. Do
you get a message that some margins are outside of the printable area?

Sometimes, making all the formatting marks visible is useful for diagnosing
these kinds of issues. In Word, click Tools, Options; on the View tab, put
a check mark in "All" under "Formatting Marks".
