Hi,

I've got a PC which now comes up with a black screen at startup with
the folloing message "Disk Read error". So I removed this disk and
plugged it in as a slave into another computer and am able to see the
files, but cannot get into the Main/Administartor's folder, I get an
"access denied" error.

Does anyone here know how I can access that folder or change the
permissions on it so that I can get that data that is in that folder?

TIA
Stu

You may have to seize ownership of these folders. Have a look here:

Take ownership of the folders and files. From start | help and support
search on ownership and on permissions, or see these articles. Not for XP
Home you'll need to boot into safe mode and login to the Administrator
account to see the security tab and for XP Pro disable simple file sharing.
