WIN XP Extra Memory not detected.

Have a new machine. Had 2 gigs memory and added another 2. BIOS see's memory.
XP only shows 2.75 GB of ram under "system. Msinfo32 shows the following:

total physical memory 4,096 gb
Available phys memory 2.26 gb
total vitual memory 2.00 gb
available virual memory 1.96gb


what am i missing

You are missing a 64bit version of the Windows XP Operating System if you
are expecting to see anything above 2.75 to 3.5GB of memory... Windows XP
32 bit just does not utilize memory in the way you are expecting, it seems.

(Google for "4GB memory in Windows XP" and/or "/3GB switch in Windows
XP"...)

Thats what i read. If i may ask one more, seeing is not really all that
important, is the system "using" that extra 2gb i put in or not??

It's using what it sees--2.75GB.
