Win XP dostapi.exe

I am having many probs with XP lately.
When I log off, I recieve a message saying..
dostapi.exe failed to initialize.

Although the only place on the internet I can
find the word "dostapi" seems to be in russian
or some foreign language. I am thinking this is
"dos" "tapi" with tapi being something to do with
my telephone. I'm no expert but I get a pop up
box saying incomming call and it knocks me out
of what ever I am doing...very annoying when
playing games at zone.com. I turned off caller id
and no difference.

My browser freezes when I open in new window.

I ran spybot and quarentined many programs.

I have XP home edition and have never edited the
registry....too scared!

Any suggestions? What is "dostapi"?

A Google search for "dostapi" brings up nothing, which is suspicious.
Spybot S&D is great for spyware removal, but it is not an antivirus
program. You need to scan with a full-featured antivirus program using
updated definitions. In addition to Spybot, also run these other free
malware removal tools:

Besides Spybot, get Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update
these programs before running them. These programs are free, so run
them both since they complement each other. It is best to run antivirus
and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode. You may also want to run
CWShredder and HijackThis from http://aumha.org/freeware.htm. Although
CWShredder is no longer being updated, it will still clean older
variants of the CoolWebSearch malware. Please read the instructions
carefully. Also, make sure you've visited Windows Update and applied
all security patches. Do not install driver updates from Windows
Update. Make sure you are running a firewall.
