I tried to install Xp on my computer and got the message
that a file "asms" is missing. I could not direct it to
the file so I had to cancel and it aborted the install. I
was installing this on a PC that has a formatted HD so I
started the install and it got to the point of "installing
system" then I got the above message. Is the CD at fault
so that I need a new one or can I put this file in through
a floppy?

Try a search on asms xp in google, there appears to be a lot of discussion
on this which may solve your problem.

Hi Dale,

ASMS is a folder in the I386 directory on the CD. Try cleaning both the disk
itself and the drive using a commercial CD lens cleaner.
