win update error

Dwight

Good Day,
Trying to do a windows update but get an error box which
states the following
" your currect security settings prohibit running activeX
controls on this page, As a result the page may not
display correctly"
it goes no farther than that point, so it does not scan
for the required updates
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance
Dwight

You receive a "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls
on this page" message when you try to use Windows Update

In addition:

Try re-registering the following .dll files
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.
