Win mail won't shut down properly

When I close Win Mail I get a mesage saying "Windows Mail has stopped
working. I then get either a message saying windows has closed the program or
a message saying "Win Mail is being re-started" and it opens. Can anyone help
me to fix it? I am runing Vista Home Premium
