Win Fax not closing when OS shuts down

M

Michael

Hello:

After I started using Win Fax on my laptop w/W2KS, it was
working just fine; sending faxes. I needed to cancel some
faxes along the way and did so via the fax monitor. Now
when I try to shutdown windows, I am getting a popup
indicating that Win Fax is not responding; advising
whether to 'End Now' or 'Cancel'. Pressing either one will
continue with the Windows shutdown.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and thanks in
advance.

Well to make sure it is MSFAX w/Windows NT Fax Driver.
I am thinking that it has a canceled fax still in the
queue but it does not show the icon and it does not
indicate in the Fax monitor. So when I get off line and
attempt to shut down my laptop, a popup indicates that the
Fax is not responding.

So this is Windows 2000 Personal Fax? By what method were you sending faxes?
Have you checked Event Viewer and Task Manger to see what's going on?

I am sending faxes from MS Word. I am not that
knowledgable in Event Viewer but I have scanned the Viewer
for the time stamp when I log off but nothing shows up as
an obvious error. A couple of errors did relate to the Fax
but that had to do w/no dial tone or retires. The Task
Manager does not show that the Fax is 'not responding'.

Thanks again,

Michael

Is the Fax Service set to integrate with Outlook or localsystem? When you
look at Properties of your Fax Printer, are there any pending documents you
can purge?

Wait. I just remembered. In Windows 2000, you just double click the Fax
Printer to bring up the Fax Queue, or access the Fax Queue from the Start
menu.
