Does anyone know how to make Win 98 machines connect to
Windows 2000 shared folder?

Windows 2000 machine member of Domain.
Win 98 machine not a member of domain.

In the Network configuration of the W98, fill in the name of the domain.
Log the W98 in with a username that is known on the domain.

By doing so, am I making the Win 98 machine a member of
the Domain?

What about 2000 machines that I do not want to be part of
the domain but need access to shared folder?

Thank you for all your help

Sort of In fact, you're making it a member of the workgroup.
What exactly is your goal? If you have a network with a domaincontroller,
why don't you want them to be a member?
