Win 2kServer install & create new domain??

Hello,

I am trying to create a new network beginning with just
one windows 2000 server.

I run the setup and go through th networking. I set up
the tcp/ip properties for wins, dns and everything looks
fine. The install then asks for a password. But when it
is finished, I am in a workgroup and not a new domain.

I've tried dcpromo and try to create the dns server, but
it says the location can't be found. How do I install
windows 2000 server on a server and make it a domain
controller of a new domain? Should be straight forward,
but I'm not doing something right.

after you install the windows 2000 server
install DNS
then run dcpromo
