Win 2K server transmits, but no recieve

Hello All,
I set up a win 2K server the nic is on the motherboard. This system used to
work fine, but a HD crash forced me to rebuild from scatch (no good backup).
My problem is that after the setup, I wanted to install win updates, and
noticed I could not get on the net. I couln't ping any thing in, or outside.
i can ping the server itself, but all other ip's get noreply.
I then notice that the trans/recv icon only blinks the xmit side. After
looking at the statictics I noticed xmit pkts., but 0 recv. pkts.
I changed switch ports, I changed cables, and I reinstalled the driver
(windows never reported any issues withth drivers) but still same problem.
I don't hav a FW installed on the server. I am going to check with a new
nic, but has anyone ever had this problem?
